An exceptional Kittinger secretary from the prestigious Historic Newport Collection, crafted in mahogany and mahogany veneers and based upon an import 18th-century Newport secretary associated with cabinetmaker Job Townsend.
Kittinger's Historic Newport furniture was produced in cooperation with the Preservation Society of Newport County. The HN-14 is an exact licensed reproduction of the historic secretary displayed at Hunter House in Newport, Rhode Island.
Behind the drop-front writing surface is an elaborate fitted interior with carved architectural detailing, small drawers and pigeonholes. Pull-out candle slides, dovetailed drawers, traditional brass hardware and Kittinger identification further distinguish this beautifully constructed piece.
The upper bookcase provides additional storage behind paneled doors with stationary interior shelving.
